Living Structure
An AI is an amorphous glowing fluid. Your prompt gives it guidelines to grow along and constraints that squeeze it into shape — a house, a vase, a tree.

- What it does
- Watch an AI, drawn as a living fluid, get shaped by a typed prompt into a house, a vase and a tree — first drafts, revisions and all.
- Who it is for
- For anyone who has tried to explain AI to someone who has never used it — and for that someone.
Notes from the making (5)
- validated after the artefact already existed, and the record says so: the simulation was built as a visual study first, and the falsifiable question was written onto it afterwards. The question that survived is not "is it beautiful" but "does the metaphor carry" — measured by whether campaign strangers stay through one full chapter
- kill condition, fixed before launch: fourteen days from the campaign’s last send, at least 100 visitors and at least one in five of them activated — activation meaning they watched a full chapter end, which takes about thirty seconds. Below 100 visitors the rate is unreadable and the result is recorded as inconclusive rather than false. Never renegotiated
- the instrument: ~262k agents in GPU textures running a physarum simulation inside signed-distance fields. Guidelines are drawn as cyan rails the agents steer along; constraints are the amber boundary that morphs from a circle into each form and reflects anything that touches it. Every chapter ships a deliberate first-draft flaw — two chimneys, a fat neck, six branches — revised by one more typed constraint, because revision is the half of prompting nobody draws
- deliberately not simulation-accurate and the page never claims otherwise: it is a picture of how prompting feels to steer, not of how transformers work. The word "model" was cut from the page entirely after a review note that it reads as jargon — it says "an AI" throughout
- not verified, and recorded rather than smoothed over: nobody outside this session has watched it. Whether the metaphor lands without a narrator is the first thing a stranger settles
This page stays up whatever happens to the experiment. The record it is drawn from is public: /api/nothing/experiments.
