The Invariant — software as a fluid material
About the work ↗
THE INVARIANT
The form follows the use.
Pulling branches makes adaptation visible. In everyday software, AI could make those changes in response to your habits, your task or something coming up. The notes stay at the core; the ways to use them change.
Keep checking a map, and it could take more space. Find places through photos, and the photos could become map pins. Plan a walk for tomorrow, and a route could be ready before you leave.
Try these changes by hand here. Choose a feature and add a branch. Stretch it for more space; bring branches together to combine their features. Try opens the same working guide at full width.
This prototype uses local components, not a live AI model. The examples describe possible behavior; the app does not learn your habits or read your calendar. Places and locations are illustrative. Changes stay in this tab. Save project exports your notes, choices and places, including photos.
Drag numbered handles or use the size, position and grouping controls. Fold away removes a branch; Undo restores it. Drag empty space to rotate; pinch or scroll to zoom. If branches offer the same feature, the longest included branch supplies its version.
A Project Nothing experiment. It might be gone next month.THE INVARIANT / SOFTWARE AS A MATERIAL
Shape the software.
Here, you move the branches by hand. They stand for changes AI could make as you use the app.
Forming the material…
Drag a numbered handle to reshape. Drag empty space to rotate.
